The Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems (BITS) focuses on delivering knowledge and skills in computer networking, application development and computer-based software to meet the current IT industry needs. The course ensures that graduates develop a broad and coherent body of knowledge in the underlying principles and concepts of information technology. It provides students with the opportunity to explore and identify critical IT industry demands and to understand how these demands are met.
The degree offers units across the complete spectrum of information technology and systems, including the study of hardware, software, networking, security, database and programming technologies and includes relevant cognitive, technical and communication skills. The course is designed to produce graduates who have a strong industry focus and who have demonstrated the full range of knowledge and skills gained through a relevant project in the Final year. It also prepares the candidate for IT industry certifications in the fields of networking, systems administration and programming.

Entry Requirements | We ensure that all accepted applicants are capable of completing their program of study. A range of criteria is used to determine applicant’s eligibility. Essential Criteria Successful completion of Australian Year 12 (e.g. VCE, VCAL) or equivalent. Age: 18 years or older at commencement of course. English: Australian Year 12 equivalent. Mathematics: Australian Year 11 equivalent. |
Qualification Rule | 144 Credit Points- 24 subjects (units) – including all core units must be successfully studied: Core Units: 13 Elective Units: 11 In addition to the core units, students can elect to specialise either the Networking or Application Development streams. |
